ROYAL GUARDSMAN "EXCITING PROSPECT"

Royal Guardsman - King's Theatre x Lisa du Chenet

..."One of our most exciting prospects, he produced a brilliant performance to win on his debut at Fontwell.  He didn't come off the bridle and the runner up has won since to give the form some substance.  A gorgeous horse by King's Theatre, he has been working well beforehand.  In fact he worked with Cue Card between Cheltenham and Aintree and beat him.  We knew then he must be a very good horse.  I have not decided whether he will have another run in a bumper or go straight over hurdles.  I am favouring going straight over hurdles but if a suitable bumper cropped up in the autumn that is a possibility.  If he won that easily then we could save him for the Cheltenham Festival bumper, but I think hurdling is more likely.  He has the speed for 2 miles and has done very well over the summer.  Considering he only arrived at Christmas he has grown up quickly and appears to have everything.  I simply don't know how good he is.
